Vallée Blanche - Alpina-Tour. DMC Tour Operator in Aosta Valley and Chamonix

Vallée Blanche

The Vallée Blanche offers the longest off-piste descent and, perhaps, the most beautiful in the Alps. Depending on the preparation of the skier, it can be more or less demanding. In any case, for your safety, it is strictly required the accompaniment of a mountain guide.

We propose you to make the descent from Courmayeur (Punta Helbronner) – 3462 m.

So, we start going up from Courmayeur to Punta Helbronner. After checking harness and ARTVAs, we continue on the rope for about 20 min, then we’ll put on skis or snowboard to our feet . During the descent, we see the glacier of the Giant’s Tooth, the serac of the Requin, in which we’ll proceed between seracs that join the upper basin of the Géant with the Tacul glacier.

The descent is easy, but requires patience, and a pause in the large plateau of the “Salle à manger” is an ideal spot to have a snack and to contemplate the landscape. Then the route gets gentle, with unforgettable views on the Periades, on the Lechaux glacier, on the north face of the Grandes Jorasses and on the Drus. Finally, depending on the amount of snow, we’ll continue by skis, or by train, the last part of the descent from La Mer de Glace until Chamonix.

Required equipment

Skis (alpine, mountaineering or free-ride) or snowboard, packed lunch, suitable clothing to high mountains. The ARVAs (avalanche beacons) are provided by the guides. Before departure, it’s possible to rent all the necessary equipment at the point of hire, which is located next to the Aosta-Pila cableway
