On public transport<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dogs may ride on the buses and trains which take you the length of the Aosta Valley, but they must be muzzled and held on a lead. Tickets 50% discount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always make sure your dogs and cats are wearing a collar with identification tags. Microchipping is an excellent (and obligatory in Italy!) form of identification as well.

Hiking with dogs in Aosta Valley<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/strong>In summer, it\u2019s great to head up the mountain with your dog, and we\u2019re sure that they\u2019ll love it as much as you. There are plenty of open pastures and lakes for them to dive into! However, bear in mind that there are certain restrictions in place in the mountain parks which vary according to the time of year.
A quick overview of where your dogs are allowed to go:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gran Paradiso<\/strong>
Dogs can be walked on leads only at the bottom of the valley and, from the 15th<\/sup> of July to the 15th<\/sup> of September, along some of the paths, in compliance with the Park’s Regulation.  Download maps and routes of the areas accessible the whole year, as well as summer itineraries authorized by derogating the Regulation. http:\/\/www.pngp.it\/en\/visit-park\/walking-dogs-park<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pila \/ Aosta<\/strong>. Free in all ski lifts of the resort and can be walked on leads only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Courmayeur Mont-Blanc. <\/strong>5\u20ac round trip. Dogs can be walked on leads only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sky Way Mont Bianco. <\/strong>7\u20ac round trip. <\/strong>Dogs must be muzzled and held on a lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Maintain your dog\u2019s energy levels. <\/strong>Don\u2019t give your dog a big meal in the morning of your hike to ensure they have enough time to digest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Pick up after your dog<\/strong> \u2013 is important hiking etiquette. Dog excrement contains harmful levels of bacteria that can harm and disrupt local wildlife, native habitats and groundwater supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.<\/strong> Remember to make sure you stop for water breaks<\/strong> frequently<\/strong>. When you need a drink, chances are your dog will too so make sure you carry enough fresh water for you and your dog<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Food.<\/strong> Carry nutritious snacks for your dog and offer them regularly to keep your dog\u2019s energy level high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Dog clothing<\/strong>. Putting an argyle sweater on your dog so he looks fancy on the golf course is not what we\u2019re talking about. If you have a shorthaired dog or a dog that spends the majority of their time indoors, they could benefit from an extra layer against wet and cold conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Dog First Aid Supplies<\/strong>: Pack a first aid kit especially for your dog or add some dog-specific supplies (multi-tool with tweezers, tick removal tool (also useful for any ticks you find on yourself!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Collar with a tag <\/strong>that has your telephone number on it in case you get separated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
